Aversive Taste

3rd January 2011

Since I was a child I never wore orange or any orangey shades that associates with fruits that I don’t eat, tangerines, madarins, carrots and apricots…it’s true I don’t eat them.  Until recently I fell in love with a fabric quilted Chanel-esque chained strapped Jaeger shoulder bag in vibrant orange (I had no option but to purchase the orange colour as there were no other colours I liked in the summer sale), it was a perfect accent colour to co-ordinate with my winter dull and frumy wardrobe.

Oh and please excuse me for putting together this whole jevenilled look (I love it), they’re from the Jil Sander SS11 menswear collection (YES it’s men’s and don’t ask) I’m wearing it for this blog to make up the loss of not using the pieces (sent directly from Milan) in menswear shoot which got cancelled, all blames on the snow storm and flight choas across the atlantic/English Channel, where some of the menswear samples I’d requested were (and still) currently being held somewhere.  All said and done, they have to be wrapped (including red pieces…a post will follow), boxed up with an apology note and deliver back to Milan.

That enormous shoes is a size EU43….men’s.

Loaned outfits by Jil Sander and loaned sunglasses by Claire Goldsmith, thanks Intelligent PR.

Orange is a funny colour, I kind of have a love hate thing with it! don’t think I’d wear it but when I see it in pictures like this I can’t help thinking it looks so lovely and warm!

you are blowing my mind right now kit. This is awesome. Orange is rocking my world right now. Just found an unworn jumper of mine from years ago in the attic in this exact shade. Reminds me of Lim’s pre fall line which I also love. Jill sanders spring 11 was epic. Loved the colours. This looks so cool and you actually pull it off very well.

Head to toe orange never looked so good. You remind me of a creamsicle – google it.

Kit you are amazing! You have to be a complete lunatic to pull it off in the street, I would team it with another coloured accessories like pastel blue ankle socks, or some kind of neck piece to distract the loudness. It’s men’s wear so er erm yeah.

    Great post btw.

Clever use of the title, it describes how it is and what it is for orange.

I love that orange Jaeger bag from the previous post.
You certainly have the guts to dress up in men’s clothes, the orange looks great on you.

I see a lot of yellows in all outfits posts, nice to see you’ve morphed into something more citriusy and aversive colour. Head to toe in orange is a difficult colour to pull off, I kind of do like yours as you have a paler skin with jet black hair and ofcourse an attitude to match yours. Great glasses, I didn’t noticed it at first.

Oh wow, what a colour! The colour definitely jumps right out at you, especially when you’re dressed head to toe. Love the photos and you’re right, the pieces are too good not to appear on the blog if they’re not being used on a shoot!

I’m so excited for your trip to HK. I can’t speak Hakka but my Cantonese is good. I understand Hakka perfectly though as my mom’s side are all Hakka and from Tai Po too. When I visit, I stay with my dad’s side who live in North Point, the closest MTR is Tin Hau which I guess is pretty central. I have to visit this year in order to keep up my HK ID card. Haha, it’s the perfect excuse for a holiday!

Really hoping I get to see you before you go to HK, I remember we said we would go to yum cha haha 🙂

The shoes are incredible, they look edible (not an intentional rhyme). The lippy is also fab.
