Happy Chinese New Year and welcome to the Year of the Snake! The Water Snake celebrated its first day in abrupt fashion, blinding sleet and snow arrived in North London yesterday evening (I hear some parts of London were virtually snowless?), nice one. I’ve been pretty much stuffing myself with boxes of sour Mandarins and sumptuous pork crackling gifted by friendly Chinese neighbours. I then had a go at Chinese calligraphy, it has taken me 5 attempts to perfect the scribble effect of both Chinese Traditional characters ‘Fortune’ and ‘Snake’, with the help of my aged Chinese ink and brush. It doesn’t look that bad.
Once again, Happy Chinese New Year, let the Water Snake bring mobility, tranquility and prosperous future.
Beautiful writing Kit, I think all my years at Chinese school still wouldn’t have produced something as neat as yours!

I’m impressed, Kit! Based on our conversation via Instagram last year, you’d know that I can barely write one to four in Mandarin. I think I’d better stick to speaking instead!
Your Chinese calligraphy looks flawless, I’m amazed by your skills. Did you learn Calligraphy as a child?
Impressive work Kit.
Happy Lunar New Year!
Have a great one, Kit.

Very nice, kinda reminded me of those days when I had to hand in the calligraphy homework that I had to rush through but mine was nothing like that lol 🙂
I hope you have a wonderful year!!! http://www.ourwonderlust.com/ourwonderlust/the-year-of-the-snake.html

This reminds me of my calligraphy lessons at school, not that I knew Chinese of course, I wasn’t that great LOL.
