Still on a hunt for a quirky man-style, hand crafted camera case or a bag to accommodate my overweight baby and newly transplanted fatter limb (Canon 50D + Sigma 50mm 1.4 lens). Those ugly and boring high street black and grey neoprene and nylon-polyester types are a major no no. Where’s the product appeal?
Thank goodness for international fashion designer Paul Smith and Leica Camera Ltd have joined forces to design two exclusive, limited edition luxury leather cases specifically for Leica D-Lux 5 digital camera, available from October 2011. Just 300 of the premium camera cases (150 in a brown calf leather, and 150 light grey croc style) will be available at the Leica store in Mayfair and Paul Smith stores throughout UK. £200 is pretty reasonable for a decent ‘made in England’ luxury camera case.
My week has been a bliss, I was provided with (my dream) Leica M3 vintage camera and case to play with for a week. These unfamiliar manual configuration, clueless little infinity knobs and unexpectedly this little scientific equipment is errr heavy in build, just about the same weight as my Sigma lens. In the end I’ve managed to work it out and became a scientific genius! In all seriousness, I don’t think I can justify paying £600 for a brilliant vintage camera, I really want it.
