Embrace The Beauty Of Pain

20th October 2010

After a couple days of moans and groans, aches and pain, hardly out of my comfy leather sofa and recovering my muscle pulls from the Basic Barre class (Bloggers Ballet event thingy) which was held at Frame in Shoreditch last Friday.  I’ve never had any ballet classes before except Chinese contemporary dance when I was a kid, my body can still flex but cannot bend as much.

Bloggers who were present: Shini, Jackie, Geneva, Carrie and Lucy (they took the cardio class, crazy girls) and Natalie who came after the class.

Pink ballet inspired sockettes from Tabio.

After an intensive stretches and knee cracking skills, we got to customise our own ballet slippers.  Unfortunately I only finished one slipper…blame me for being a perfectionist…er cos I love hand sewing?

Dressing for the part: The Beatles Tee – Comic Relief, Cardi – Mexx, Skirt – from a cheapo shop in Hong Kong, Leggings – H&M, Sockettes – Tabio, Scarf worn as a tie around my bun – Liberty.

My masterpiece, lace ribbons created as layers of bows.

Top left: Shini’s girl slipper, Natalie’s tassle and ribbon slipper.

I decided to finish the other bare slipper at home by customising in lace, beads and buttons.

Ok ok I’ve cheated by gluing the bits together, as you can see I was using a REPAIR extreme power glue….yeah I’ve ran out of Uhu glue ok?

Thank you Frame girls, Craig and Robinson Pfeffer for the wonderful experience…..Kerching!!!!

How fun – I don’t think I’d be much good on the ballet lessons, but I sure would love to decorate my own ballet slippers!

I applaud you Kit and a true perfectionist, who cares about gluing as long as it looks pretty and it IS pretty. LOL at the repair glue though.

Hope the ballet class was worth the pain?
