<p>A last minute invitation to <a href="http://www.laprairie.com/" target="_blank">La Prairie</a> (Cellular Power Charge Night) product launch event held at the JW Marriot hotel hence the hand written name card, no I wasn&#8217;t gate crashing I happened to meet my editor at press day somewhere somewhere and needed a company thereafter.</p>
<p>Received quite a few stares from beauty journalists, media peeps and PRs, pondering their thoughts &#8216;who is this stranger? A new beauty blogger?&#8217; &#8211; until a PR told my editor I looked like the HK model <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christy_Chung" target="_blank">Christy Chung</a>.  My reaction? &#8216;Oh I get this all the time when I visit HK.&#8217; &#8211; trust me it&#8217;s boring.</p>
<p><a title="magic002 by Style_Slicker, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/kitlondon/6795115313/"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7018/6795115313_f4f870a555_b.jpg" alt="magic002" width="1024" height="739" /></a></p>
<p><a title="magic005 by Style_Slicker, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/kitlondon/6795116933/"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7010/6795116933_2570be56b8_b.jpg" alt="magic005" width="1024" height="739" /></a></p>
<p>One of the most expensive anti-ageing products out there, a futuristic looking pump dispenser releases separate streams of Retinol cream and gel cream to the unprecedented skin renewal energy of Cellular Power Infusion.  Works best at night when the secret formula activate its magic to the skin. (I&#8217;m no beauty geek but click <a href="http://www.laprairiepower.com/index.aspx" target="_blank">HERE</a> for more info).</p>
<p><a title="magic003 by Style_Slicker, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/kitlondon/6795116335/"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7160/6795116335_1926ba3249_b.jpg" alt="magic003" width="1024" height="739" /></a></p>
<p><a title="magic006 by Style_Slicker, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/kitlondon/6795117235/"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7173/6795117235_29283b5605_b.jpg" alt="magic006" width="1024" height="739" /></a></p>
<p>HKD4,000 (£320) for 40ml is tad expensive.  I&#8217;ve handed the magic product over to my enthusiastic guinea pig mother to test it out herself.</p>

<p>Style Jam @ <a href="http://www.electricsekki.com/" target="_blank">Electric Sekki</a>, part deux.  Being a quarter Hong Konger I haven&#8217;t spared a moment for my routined personal indulgence i.e make up, stylise my hair and paint/file my nails hence the pale naked face above, I looked ghastly.  A zap of pink lips in Photoshop would have done the job nicely, but peeps this is my real un-aged face.</p>

<p>The un-necessarily air cons on HK public transport gives me a dismissive shrug, the temperature fixed at 15&#8242;c full blast in winter seems illogical, is that why HK residents fall sick so easily?  Hello? It leaves my Brit-Chinese skin a much drier complexion and my hair too a drier scalp, without equivocation I do not want to be seen picking flakes off my hair on crowded trains (<a href="http://www.twitter.com/HongKongProblems" target="_blank">#HongKongProblems</a>).</p>
<p>A while ago I was invited by Electric Sekki to have a fun dressing up session as part of their Style Jam project, in the past they did sessions with HK prominent bloggers <a href="http://www.valeriesoh.com/" target="_blank">Valerie Soh</a><a href="http://www.tlikebubbletea.net/" target="_blank">, T Like Bubble Tea</a>, <a href="http://www.samishome.com/" target="_blank">Sam Is Home</a>, <a href="http://www.cindiddy.com/" target="_blank">Cindiddy</a>, <a href="http://www.fashionhedonism.com/" target="_blank">Fashion Hedonism</a> and <a href="http://www.superwowomg.com/" target="_blank">Superwowomg</a>.</p>
<p>Without further a do, a new <a href="http://www.styleslicker.com/2012/01/25/hk-visual-diary-salon-boku/" target="_blank">haircut</a> and not a zap of make-up in sight (too lazy), here&#8217;s my first look.</p>

<p>2 years of uncut hair, heavy in weight, irritating scalp, flyaway strays, knotted in some places, static but still healthy and thankfully not a single split ends thanks to my mum&#8217;s weekly nutritious soups.</p>
<p>My impatience grew and wanted to feel like a cloud, so weeks before the Lunar New Year I took a trek to <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Salon-Boku/167198169958855" target="_blank">Salon Boku</a> in Sheung Wan to get them wacked, the salon is founded by Creative Director and trusted hair stylist friend Porky Chu, also a former stylist from London.  My last hair cut was apparently cut by Porky at a different salon in Sha Tin 2 years ago.  I couldn&#8217;t help but seeing the shock of his face, taken in by surprise by the length of my hair and awkward grown-out fringe like one of those <a href="http://www.google.com/search?q=Lhasa+Apso&amp;hl=en&amp;client=safari&amp;rls=en&amp;prmd=imvns&amp;source=lnms&amp;tbm=isch&amp;ei=UpEfT4TLMIKZiQf9tNHoDQ&amp;sa=X&amp;oi=mode_link&amp;ct=mode&amp;cd=2&amp;ved=0CBcQ_AUoAQ&amp;biw=1440&amp;bih=691" target="_blank">Lhasa Apso</a> breeds.</p>
<p><a title="boku2 by Style_Slicker, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/kitlondon/6748471229/"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7029/6748471229_9c00e01697_b.jpg" alt="boku2" width="1024" height="739" /></a></p>
<p>To those who knew me in post-December 2009 I had a blunt bob and a dare devil angular fringe in the shape of a triangle&#8230;question mark, oh come on it was a cool look. Don&#8217;t remember? Fine I was no <em>importante</em>.</p>
<p><a title="boku4 by Style_Slicker, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/kitlondon/6748471743/"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7009/6748471743_34b1613ef3_o.jpg" alt="boku4" width="1701" height="1134" /></a></p>
<p><a title="boku5 by Style_Slicker, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/kitlondon/6748471965/"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7010/6748471965_fd0804cf05_b.jpg" alt="boku5" width="1024" height="739" /></a></p>
<p>A standard size, open planned hair salon in somewhat felt like boys only college common room (a function room where college students hang about at break times), relaxed atmosphere and un-flinched by its mixed wooden decor and concrete flooring in the style of east-endy London hair salon. An added bonus to keep you curiously noted they have a giant flat screen tv, some selections of girl-friendly dvds, vintage bric-a-brac displayed on shelves (unrelated significance) and a cool looking electric guitar and tiny amplifier which makes you think &#8216;is this the place where the cool lads hang out to play?&#8217;</p>
<p>Thanks again to Porky for giving my hair a new lease of life!  Pictures to come soon.</p>
