Whimsical Innocence

10th April 2011

Some behind the scenes shots from my first Asian editorial shoot for Baccarat‘s March issue and it was my first high end editorial assignment as a Stylist, Baccarat is a luxury fashion and lifestyle magazine under the Luxury Insider Group which is available in Hong Kong and Shanghai.  The concept of the story was whimsical innocence of dance and ballet, shot at the most amazing grade two listed building the Victoria Baths in Manchester.  I had spent many sleepless nights on my laptop liaising with press offices in HK (as well as London) which screwed up my body clock and appetite, the severe snowy weather in the UK and Europe didn’t help either with samples being stuck in customs or trapped because of the white fluff, I’d requested enough samples (some selection of Paul & Joe dresses, Chanel exquisite dresses and awesome accessories and more, both brands are perfect for the story), for 8 pages were the least of my worries.

Photographer: Gordon Lund (HK)
Styling: Kit Lee
Hair & Make up: Angel Kiki Chui (HK)
Model: Shenyue Ding
Many thanks to my assistants: Bettina G and Michelle Lee
Location: Victoria Baths, Hathersage Road, Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester, M13 0FE

Oh wow, it’s becoming quite rare to find un refurbished Victorian swimming poo/Turkish-like bath in the UK as most of them are becoming abandoned, a derelict and multi-million pound redevelopment or worst turn into flats.

Looks similar to my local swimming pool in Camberwell during the 80s and 90s, unfortunately now the baths had turned into more modern and public safe pools for the locals…shame really, it lost its history :S

@Moi and Style Poo – Sorry peeps I have my own assistant ;P
@Tia – My team took a train from London to Manchester about a 2 hour train ride, and a short taxi ride to the location.

I love it when you didn’t use the traditional or the obvious dance/ballet theme – this is more contemporary and not costumised.

  • Reply Vicky Deluxe 10th April 2011 at 17:06

    Love the Chanel outfit ;P
