DIY: Under construction

30th May 2012

The Maid of Honour dress is still under construction.

This is what I have been working on at the moment, I went back to finish off this abandoned lace top which was left piled up with other DIY stuff since early May, a lot of adjustments needs to be made, hand stitching, fastening, silk organdie lining to add in later to stiffen the top-jacket.  Oh and the main dress, French seams, pleating and darts are at its nightmare stage.

Can’t wait to see you on the day, Kit! You’ve inspired me with your sewing I’ve bought my first sewing machine and learning now. I grew up helping my mom (who’s a dressmaker at one point) doing stuff so now I hope things will start coming back to me!

@Nora So glad to hear you’ve bought a sewing machine, I have three sewing machines at home, x2 domestic and x1 industrial which I used since uni. My mum uses it from time to time as she used to be a seamstress in HK.

Kit, you’re so talented! I know this isn’t finished yet but it’s already beautiful… Could totally be worn as a semi-transparent top layer…
