Barbican Conservatory - Style Slicker

Style Slicker has turned 5 last week (totally forgotten about it) and I, is approaching three-zero-one in a couple of weeks, a double celebration and my continuous pleasure of being mistaken for a 20 year old.  Cheers for the birthday messages in advance!

Recently, I’ve noticed a slight change in my blog content, transitioning to more strategised, visual impact – incorporating the use of props (my heavy use of florals and greenery), scenery, and themed environments, to ensure they are effectively implemented in concurrence with the topic and taste that defines content style…hence the recent lack of posts because of my fussiness with photography.  Speaking of greenery, last weekend I visited The Conservatory at the Barbican for the first time, exotic palm trees, dangling vines, foliage plants set against the backdrop of the ugliest Brutalist building in London.  So ugly in fact, the thought of seeing the post-war rendered-concrete block and glassed greenhouse with tropical oasis can look so wrong, but so right and fantastical.

Barbican Conservatory, Silk Street, City of London, EC2Y 8DS. (see map HERE)

I’m wearing: Floral print top c/o Benetton, wide legged trousers from Uniqlo, vintage belt from Beyond Retro, rubber flats by Jason Wu x Melissa from ASOS, pink clutch bag c/o MCM, pug print tote bag (unknown), handbag phone case c/o Candies Gifts.  Portrait and body shots; thanks to May.

I love the area around The Barbican; the architecture is so…bizarre. Ugly pretty, I think.

WOAH I had no idea this was there!! I need to visit it sometime, as you say the contrast between the greenery and the hideous concrete is actually quite nice. God I hate the Barbican building though, and that whole ghastly style of architecture! The mid 20th Century seriously ruined our cities…

I agree with your style of blogging. I’ve noticed you haven’t posted much about recent press days which I liked (thank you very much) than bore the hell out of us. And I love the fact you have grown fondness for nature and flowers…I think it’s something to do with your maturity in age and the change of direction beyond fashion, it’s a lovely mix.

Happy birthday (in advance), Kit! You certainly look REALLY REALLY young so I’m not surprised that you’re often mistaken for a 20 year old. Good for you for being fussy because your photography is out of this world.
