Beauty 1

I must halt my spending money on shoes, clothes (my new year’s resolutions) and lavish things that I’d only wear or use once or twice a year, but focusing on looking after my skin on a regular basis to compensate many years of neglect in skincare since early adulthood, curse you freckles and English water.  I’m approaching 31 in April and can’t imagine turning 40 in 9 years time, yet I’m still a complete novice when it comes to finding appropriate formulated beauty products for Asian sensitive combination skin, I’m still searching and discovering.Beauty 2

I was introduced to Alpha H Liquid Gold (helps tightening enlarged pores) over 2 years ago by a makeup artiste friend Kenneth Soh, who uses Alpha H products consistently for 3 years and swears by it.  At the moment I’m using these skincare set which I’m using religiously on a daily basis – Alpha H’s Balancing Cleanser, Liquid Gold (3 times a week), Eye Serum and non-heavy Age Delay Night Cream.  My skin feels hydrated and smoother even when I turn a heater on full blast, the surface of the skin doesn’t feel dry…goodbye skin crust.

After a fun beauty advertorial project with and Creme de la Mer’s Soft Cream back in September, I took a liking to experimenting more of their other products that I feel deems right for my skin – Blanc de la Mer Brightening Essence Intense (ultra-gold-dust-amazing product for Asian skin, but it will cost you), Moisturizing Lotion and SPF18 Fluid Tint in Light which is a great alternative to BB cream.  Both Alpha H and Creme de la Mer (full review coming soon) products sits well together on my delicate skin, but it will cost me to keep this routine on-going until my kitty coin bank is refilled.

As a Chinese in Canada, we have sort of the same weather as London out on the West Coast here. My skin care regime is entirely H2O products, if you want a slightly cheaper alternative to what you’re using right now. Love the stuff, everything just works. Excellent for day to day. I swear I’m not their salesperson, I just really like their stuff 🙂

I’ve always been put off by the price of Creme de la Mer but I’ve never heard a bad thing about their products….maybe one day I’ll splurge.

On another note I had no idea you’re in your 30s! Not that it’s old (of course) but you look at least 5-years younger!

Sensitive skin is the worst to try new products on… I’m still trying to save mine after trying a new foundation over Christmas that I was not happy with 🙁 but luckily, Santa gave me the Creme de la Mer moisturizing cream which is helping to soothe my angry skin! The Creme de la Mer products really are the crème de la crème (but yes, unfortunately painfully expensive).

I use Alpha-H liquid gold too! The ingredient is a little abrasive for sensitive skin compared to other skin types so I only use it twice a week for best result, I would love to try their other range too.

Not heard a single bad word about about Creme De La Mer products, don’t think I can afford them with my part time income, maybe one day I will save up and invest.

I can’t believe you’re turning 31 in a few months time, you look like a teenager. Tell us, what is your secret asides to beauty products?

Oh Kit, don’t even mention your 40s – especially when you look like you’re still early 20s. I love the look of all these products. I think I really need to start taking better care of my skin – I’ve got into quite a lazy routine these days!

@Winnie Better to start now than later. Start using hydrating serum ;P

I feel like the condition of my skin is changing quite a lot now that I’m approaching late 20s. It used to be SO greasy and coarse, but it’s starting to get dry patches in places, even though my pores are still absolutely massive. I may need to try out the Alpha H brand – I’ve never heard of it before!!

I’ve always wanted to try Creme de la Mer but it’s way too expensive for my budget. Until I’m rolling in the big bucks I’ll just keep using Nivea. xx

I’m turning 40 this year. I’ve definitely noticed the beginnings of jowls, lines and pores which are now the size of mini craters. I’ve tried Creme de la Mer products but I didn’t notice any significant improvement. I’ll look into Alpha H. I’m currently using mostly natural products which has help with the hydration. I could almost kick myself for neglecting my skin for 4 years.
