Imagine having a bento picnic with friends and family under one of thousands flowering cherry blossom trees in the city park or countryside, gazing its beauty and colour that will forever etched in your memory, a rare pleasure like this exist only in the Far East.  Want to experience something like this in real life?  Read on.

A spot of afternoon lunch at a pop up cherry blossom secret garden at ‘Sakura at Sake no Hana‘ on St Jame’s Street to celebrate the arrival of spring and Japanese cherry blossom season, renowned florist Veevers Carter has done a good job in transforming the the bar area with faux cherry blossoms from floor to ceiling, enveloping and entwining above while guests can enjoy limited-edition cocktails and tea, bento boxes, and desserts.  I have to say it look deeply romantic and fairytale-like mini version of indoor avenue of cherry blossom trees, I had the opportunity to sample the limited-edition lunch menu which consist of:

  • Sakura Tea – pot of tea made from the leaves of cherry blossom trees (£4.50)
  • Sakura Crystal Double-Layer Bento Box – served with a miso soup starter, the first layer of the box contains seven-spice chicken kuwayaki and spring salad with sesame dressing.  The second sushi layer comprises salmon avocado, spicy tuna and California rolls, and chu-toro and salmon sashimi (£28)
  • Sakura Palet D’or – cherry-chocolate dessert with fresh cherries, nashi pear, almonds and giner, and cherry blossom tea ice-cream made from the leaves of cherry blossom trees (£8)
  • Cherry blossom macarons – vanilla macarons with cherry blossom tea ganache (£1.60 each, 5 for £7)

The pop-up garden runs until the 19th of May, book now to reserve a table before you miss the spectacular display!

  1. Beautiful! This place looks amazing, I’m going to check this place out.

  2. Absolutely stunning photos, Kit. I haven’t even heard of this restaurant before. The bento box looks absolutely incredible.

  3. Incredible set of photos, can’t believe those were faux cherry blossoms, that could be handy if you want ever lasting cherry blossoms in the garden or at home.

  4. Oh I had wondered whether the sakura was real of faux. It looks lovely and now I want my own faux sakura for decoration! The bento boxes look divine!
