London Tweed Run 2013

Two weeks ago, Shini and I participated in the London Tweed Run 2013 on behalf of our two wheelie friend, Tokyo Bike.  I/we usually decline last minute invitations, with rare exception, we said YES without hesitation.  Celebrating its 5th and successful annual run, 5oo participants young and old including the hot looking edible breakfast *ahem* I mean the hot male models, all dressed in traditional tweed attires and vintage cycling fineries.  As for mine and last minute wardrobe option, they were just typical everyday wear found in the back cave of my wardrobe, badly creased (thanks for the outfit shot Shini).   We cycled along initial planned routes ushered by dedicated teams of marshals; Marylebone High Street, Regent Street, Saville Road, Piccadilly Circus, Houses of Parliment and Trafalgar Square.  The glorious scenic street views packed with tourists and shoppers greeted us with welcome roaring applauses, so this is what it feels like to run a London Marathon.  Despite the despicable rain in our leg of the journey, it didn’t dampen our cycling spirits, Shini and I crippled home with sore buttocks and battered calves from teething pedals.  We’re looking forward to participate again next year.

Style Slicker was a participant on behalf of Tokyo Bike (thank you Yu Fujiwara) in this year’s London Tweed Run.

  1. I enjoyed your photographs of the Tweed Run. It was disappointing that you did not manage to catch me with your camera. It was a superb occasion, and I was pleased that my outfit was rewarded with one of the prizes. The organisation was first-class!

  2. I have heard of the london tweed run but I had no idea it was such a new thing when I saw your top pic I naively thought it was from the “earlier” days of tween run, assumed it’s been going on for decades. mmmm models look delicious, I want them all!

  3. Jeez, where have you been hiding? I’ve been waiting for your new blog post for absolute donkey’s years!
Love this post and love the tweed fashionings.
